Ra Foundation is a Mumbai-based NGO registered under the Mumbai Public Trust Act 1950, in 2004. The foundation works well with vulnerable children in the slums of Mumbai in the comprehensive child education sector. We believe these are the pillars of a fulfilling life. The Ra Foundation started in 2004, focusing on health care by organizing women’s self-help groups, to raise awareness and save for their health needs.
In 2006, a French woman found a little girl living with her blind parents on the sidewalk of the CST port. Moved by his plight, he approached the Ra Foundation to intervene and help the child. After getting approval from his parents, Ra’s foundation put him in education and management and by the end of the year, he became a reformer. From there began Ra’s journey of identifying vulnerable children and providing them with good training in a school setting.

Thus the Happy Children program was conceived. Now, it has become a program that engages 360 degrees in children’s education, mental and emotional health, and their overall development by providing a stable and supportive environment during their formative years.
Program Type
Identify the child:- Discover a child in partnership with Akanksha / TeachForIndia. This option includes parent/child interviews, home visits, and school visits.
Admission to school:- Parents and children first go to the partner school and let the staff know about it, then the child is accepted.
Provide foster care:- Includes regular health checks, regular contact via calls, letters, advice, and progress monitoring. Educate, care and support the child until he graduates.
Follow the child:- Assistance in finding a job/finding skills and interests and following the child in the world.
