About Department of Education
The aim of the education department is to give the learners a sound understanding of the subject. A good knowledge of reading, teaching learning to enhance student’s success in rapidly changing world with the commitment to developed leaders in the field. Comprehension and writing skills would be a pre-requisite for the programme. The programme offers an opportunity to learners for higher studies in Education Besides offering the core courses available in other universities. It includes themes in some of the emerging areas of education that are expected to be extremely useful in the present scenario of economic liberalization and globalization.

Sadat Hussain is presently working as a Lecturer in the Education Department at the Govt. Degree College, Kargil, Ladakh on academic arrangement basis. He has completed his post-graduation from the University of Jammu and has also qualified the UGC NET. He has widely written on the importance of Education as a tool for bringing positive change in the society with special emphasis on women’s empowerment and the girl child’s education. He has attended International seminars and conferences. He has presented a paper entitled “Women Rights are Human Rights”at the 5th International Conference on Woman and Development at the Punjabi University, Patiala and the two days International Conference with the theme “Women are not born weak, they are made weak” and also presented a paper entitled “Gender Equality: Yet a distant dream” held at the Sri Sai Group of Institutes Badani, Pathankot respectively. He is an active social worker associated with the Red Cross Society, Jammu and has been felicitated by the Red Cross Society, Jammu for his excellent services. In the wake of floods in the Chenab/Tawi basin (2014) he was a part of a team that imparted free education to flood affected students for a month. He has worked for three months at the National Bal Bhavan, Jammu and accompanied the children’s of the state in the capacity of Guardian to the annual children’s day celebrations held at National Bal Bhavan, New Delhi and organized by the Union Human Resources and Development Ministry. Among his writings, besides those mentioned above, is a paper on the “Attitude of University Students towards NET/SET Examinations” and an unpublished work on “Gender Discrimination in J&K State with Special reference to Women’s Education” submitted to the Department of Education, University of Jammu. During his university days he has been actively involved in contributing to the society and was elected as the 18th President of the All Ladakh Student’s Welfare Association, Jammu. He was instrumental in bringing many issues related to students to the fore.
